Matt and his wife live in a farmhouse in Elsie, Michigan, and were dismayed by the sloping floor in their kitchen. When they tossed a ball for one of their four cats, it always rolled to the same corner. Fortunately, the professional team at Ayers Basement Systems made the floor solid and level.

The Wetzels wanted a contractor they could trust, and they were confident in Ayers’ long history and stellar reputation. “Everyone at the company strives to be a master of their craft and continually expand their knowledge and expertise,” says Matt. “That thirst for learning is one of the reasons I chose to work here.”

Matt added, “My favorite part of the job is taking time to really understand my customers’ goals for their home and then finding solutions to help reach them. I want to make a difference in people’s lives, and making their home better is an important way to do that.”

Prior to joining Ayers, Matt did residential construction, traveled the country repairing railroad bridges, studied wildlife management, and worked for the Department of Natural Resources.

Matt grew up on his family’s farm in Ithaca, Michigan, where he helped with the carrot and soybean crops. Although he no longer farms, Matt enjoys making maple syrup, gardening, and growing sunflowers. He also keeps chickens and bees.
