Canadian Concrete Leveling has incredible success fixing slab-on-grade floors for homeowners. A side-split house in Markham, ON, for example, had a basement floor that had sunk over 2 inches in many areas causing a tripping hazard for the family. This issue also caused delays for the homeowner since they planned to sell the house. Many potential buyers were not willing to make an offer based on the condition of the floor.
Paul Mendell, one of our Project Leads, met with the homeowner to explain how our PolyLevel® Injection System could level and stabilize the floor. The homeowner was excited at the thought of finding a workable solution finally. Our Foreman, Billy McKeown, and installation team lifted the floor by injecting our high-density polyurethane formula through dime-sized holes in the concrete with minimal disruption to the rest of the concrete.
The homeowner was extremely surprised at how cost-effective the repair was and the floor was fixed in a matter of a few hours. Since the floor was level again, even the basement doors could close properly. With the floor issues eliminated, the homeowner could go ahead with their plans to continue showing the house to prospective buyers.
A homeowner in Brampton was having trouble with their front steps. They began sinking a few years ago and kept progressively getting worse each year. The backyard patio also had a few slabs that were sinking towards the foundation. The issue with the concrete in the backyard stemmed from poor compaction when the patio was originally poured. Since the soils around the house were fairly loose when the patio was poured, the weight of the concrete compressed these soils leading to settlement in various areas. The front steps also suffered some settlement, however, there was also a large gap between the steps and the stoop which allowed for water to penetrate and wash away the substrate leaving gaps that the concrete then sunk into.
The customer’s mother lived with him and he was quite concerned that the large step at the front would make it difficult for her to enter and exit the house. The customer’s children also played basketball in the backyard on the concrete patio and he was concerned that the pooling water and trip hazards could be a safety issue.
The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling to repair the issue. Foreman Kyle McKeown injected Polylevel polyurethane beneath the concrete to lift and level the concrete. Our expanding polyurethane compresses the substrate and then lifts the concrete, thus ensuring that the area is protected from further settlement.
The customer is satisfied that all the trip hazards have been removed from the concrete around his home and his patios are no longer sloping towards the foundation.
The front steps of a home in Brampton, ON, had been sinking the past few years and were progressively getting worse. There was a large gap between the steps and the stoop which allowed water to run under the steps creating more problems. Even the patio in the backyard had a few slabs that were slanted towards the house. Overall, the front steps and back patio were creating tripping hazards for the homeowner’s children and mother who also lived with him.
The homeowner called Canadian Concrete Leveling and discovered that our PolyLevel Injection System could fix the steps and the patio. Our installation team injected PolyLevel under the concrete to lift and level both areas.
The homeowner was so relieved that our team eliminated the trip hazards and the family could use the front steps and backyard patio safely again.
When you buy a new-to-you home, there are almost always a few minor quirks to work out. Sometimes you can tackle these projects yourself, but often it takes a professional service to get the job done right.
A customer in Oakville, Ontario, had just moved into a new home when she realized the front step was sinking. Not only was she worried about tripping, but a blue pad was showing through the seam.
Project Manager Matt McCullough met with the homeowner and inspected the front steps. The customer wasn’t in a rush but was looking forward to seeing it repaired. Matt explained how our PolyLevel® System uses expanding polyurethane injections to lift concrete, while our NexusPro® Sealant would keep out water.
Foreman Kyle McKeown injected the polyurethane through dime-sized holes, lifting the step and filling any voids below. Next, he sealed the crack with our color-matched sealant, keeping out water while resisting UV rays.
The homeowner and her husband are happy with the work done by Canadian Concrete Leveling. They appreciate the cleanliness of work from Kyle and the service provided by Matt.
When you think about standout areas of your home, you probably think about the garden, backyard, and, more than anything, the kitchen. People sometimes forget about the front entryway, one of the most used areas. But when this spot becomes dangerous, it can become all you think about.
A customer in Burlington, Ontario, has a beautifully stamped concrete entryway to his home. The colour went well with the rest of the home’s look, but all that was tarnished by significant settlement on the lower slab. This created a dangerous trip hazard, so he reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling for a solution.
Project Manager Alex Balson met with the homeowner and inspected the front walkway. He explained how loose-fill soils allow slabs to sink over time. The customer was concerned about repouring concrete, but Alex put his mind to ease. He walked the homeowner through our PolyLevel® System, which uses high-density polyurethane injections to lift, level and stabilize concrete. As the two-part solution is injected and mixed, it expands, compressing the soil and lifting the concrete above.
Foreman Bill McKeown and his crew, Installation Specialists Malay, Kyle and Aidan, started by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. These tiny holes are used as injection ports, where our hose is connected for the lift. After carefully raising the bottom step, the holes were patched with fresh concrete.
To ensure water would drain away from seeping beneath the porch and down into the basement, the customer made the wise decision to protect the seam with our NexusPro® Sealant. This flexible, UV-resistant sealant prevents water and debris from falling through the crack.
The homeowner can’t believe that his porch is back to a level grade, and with a new level of protection, in less than a day. He appreciates the hard work from the entire team and is happy knowing he saved money using our non-invasive alternative.
