Settlement problems below deck in Alexandria Virginia

Before, the Fitzgeralds in Alexandria, were experiencing structural concerns beneath the deck that supported their sunroom. After a full inspection, we found the area needed additional support, but the tight crawlspace made access difficult and required sections of the deck boards to be carefully removed. Gustavo, our foreman, and his crew installed 8 SmartJacks along with 20 feet of supplemental beam to properly stabilize the structure. Now, the sunroom is safely supported and stabilized for years to come.

Water damage repair in Alexandria, VA

Homeowners in Alexandria, VA were experiencing water intrusion and hydrostatic pressure buildup in their basement. The hydrostatic pressure not only forced water through the block walls but also caused the walls to bow inward.

Our solution was to install a full-perimeter waterproofing system to relieve the hydrostatic pressure and direct groundwater to a sump pump for proper discharge. To address the structural concerns, we also installed five CarbonArmor® straps to stabilize the bowing wall and help prevent any further inward movement.

EverBrace Project on Jasontown Rd, Westminster, MD

This home owner called our office to see if we could help preserve "the bones" of their 1875 Victorian farmhouse. Our expert system designer, Skylar, was sent to do a complete and free evaluation.

Skylar quickly helped find a solution and our superintendent Nick took a few crews over to the property to "forever" brace the foundation with our EverBrace wall restoration system. The home owner can now continue the renovations knowing the foundation is secure for many, many more years to come!

Failing stairwell repair in Westminster, MD

Homeowners in Westminster reached out to Fortress after fearing their stairwell was going to cave in. They had noticed subtle cracks that quickly became much more severe and contacted Fortress for help. Matt, one of our skilled System Designers, visited the property to diagnose the cause of the failure. He discovered that water pooling behind the stairwell due to the gutter discharge was creating hydrostatic pressure, causing the stairwell wall to cave in. He recommended a GeoLock® Wall Anchor System with an extension to reach stable, virgin soil beyond the failing stairwell. The anchors were installed to stabilize the wall permanently and provide the opportunity to gradually pull it back into place.

Wall stabilization in Sykesville, Maryland

A homeowner in Sykesville, Maryland, noticed that her foundation wall was beginning to bow inward and had developed a small but noticeable horizontal crack. She called Fortress and spoke with our Appointment Center, where she scheduled a free evaluation with one of our skilled System Design Specialists.

Upon inspection, we confirmed that hydrostatic pressure was causing the foundation wall to fail. We stabilized the wall using five CarbonArmor® straps. CarbonArmor is 10 times stronger than steel and helps secure the wall against further inward movement.

We then addressed the underlying water issue by installing a WaterGuard® drainage system and sump pump to collect and safely discharge water away from the home.
