Restoring a Damaged Patio Before Major Backyard Upgrades
Steven M. of Memphis, TN, wanted to transform his backyard into a more inviting space by adding a gazebo for family gatherings and to boost his property value. However, his back patio had become uneven and severely cracked, making it unsafe and unappealing for entertaining guests. Although his driveway was beyond repair at this time, Steven prioritized the patio restoration first, aiming to create a solid foundation for future outdoor improvements.
Precision Concrete Repair with PolyLevel® and NexusPro®
Our team performed a 2-Part Concrete Protection System (CPS) to address the patio’s structural and aesthetic issues. Using PolyLevel®, we lifted and leveled the entire patio surface, correcting years of settling and eliminating dangerous tripping hazards. Once stabilized, we applied NexusPro® joint sealant to fill and protect the large cracks that had divided the slab into four sections. The result was a smooth, even surface ready to support Steven’s future gazebo plans—without the cost of full replacement.
Long-Term Durability and Customer Satisfaction
This project highlights the importance of using innovative concrete repair technology instead of traditional replacement methods. PolyLevel® ensures long-lasting stabilization by addressing the soil beneath the slab, while NexusPro® seals and shields the surface against future damage from water and temperature changes. Steven was thrilled with the outcome and plans to explore additional home improvement options, such as foundation repair and crawl space encapsulation, once his budget allows.

Problem: Tree Root Damage Created a Serious Trip Hazard
A newly purchased 1920s home in Memphis, TN had a dangerous, uneven sidewalk caused by invasive tree roots, creating a clear risk of trips and injuries. After several large trees were removed from the property, the remaining root system had lifted three concrete slabs along a rear walkway. One slab had already become a major tripping hazard, while another was beginning to rise. With exterior renovations underway and the homeowners not yet moved in, safety and long-term usability were top priorities. The homeowner’s primary concern was quality of life and preventing someone from getting hurt.
Solution: Precision PolyLevel® Sidewalk Leveling and Crack Repair
To resolve the issue without full concrete replacement, the affected sidewalk slabs were stabilized and adjusted using PolyLevel® foam injection. Because the tree had already been cut down, it was explained upfront that full re-leveling might not be achievable due to residual soil pressure. To address this, the cracked area was carefully saw-cut to relieve tension, increasing the likelihood that the slab could be lowered. Where full lowering was not possible, adjacent slabs were raised strategically to eliminate abrupt elevation changes, removing the tripping hazard entirely. All visible cracks in the three slabs were filled, improving both safety and appearance.
Why the Method Mattered: Safe, Efficient, and Ideal for Historic Properties
Using PolyLevel® was critical for this project because it allowed for precise concrete leveling without demolition, heavy equipment, or disruption to the historic property. Foam injection stabilized the soil, corrected elevation differences, and reduced the risk of future movement—an important factor after tree removal. Crack repair further protected the concrete from water intrusion and deterioration. The result was a safer, cleaner-looking walkway that met the homeowner’s expectations and significantly reduced liability risks, all while preserving the character of the home.

Derrick M. of Memphis, TN reached out to us after noticing several sunken concrete slabs around the deep end of his pool deck. A dedicated grill master with six grills and a beautifully upgraded backyard, Derrick takes pride in creating a space perfect for entertaining. However, the uneven concrete was becoming an eyesore—and more importantly, a safety concern. He and his wife, Pearl, regularly host friends and family, and they wanted to eliminate tripping hazards before their next gathering.
The couple had attempted a temporary fix by pouring concrete into the gap between the pool and the sunken slab to improve appearance and reduce risk. But they knew this wasn’t a permanent solution. Their biggest concern during the repair was protecting the pool liner—breaking up the concrete filler could result in sharp debris puncturing the liner if it slipped between the liner and the surrounding dirt. With this in mind, we exercised extreme care during removal. To lift and level the sunken slabs, we installed a full 3-part Concrete Protection System (CPS), including PolyLevel® foam injection to raise the slabs with precision, ensuring a stable and seamless poolside surface.
Thanks to careful planning and coordination—like photographing the driveway for proper truck placement and leaving the back gate open for access—the project ran smoothly. Derrick and Pearl were thrilled with the results. Their pool deck is now level, safe, and party-ready. If your pool deck is settling or becoming unsafe, contact us today to learn how our Concrete Protection System can restore both safety and beauty to your outdoor space.
