A West Salem, WI, homeowner was surfing the web one day when she stumbled upon an article about radon gas. She read about the hazards that radon gas poses to a household and that the Midwest has some of the highest radon levels in the US due to the geological makeup of the area. The homeowner decided to locate a radon specialist in Wisconsin. Through an internet search, she found our website. She was impressed with our radon gas mitigation system images and decided to sign up for our FREE estimate. While she waited for her appointment, she headed to her local home improvement store to purchase an at-home radon monitoring test.
Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ross J, was scheduled to head out to the home. When he arrived, he learned that the homeowner had conducted a home test which had indicated higher-than-average radon levels. So, Ross began his appointment looking for the appropriate place to out a mitigation system. When he finished his walkthrough, he met with the homeowner. Ross explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. When installed by an experienced radon mitigation specialist, a radon abatement system will lower the concentration of radon gas in your interior air to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner was impressed with Ross's solution and signed on the spot.
The day of the installation eventually rolled around. Our Foreman, Geno, and his team wasted no time getting to work installing the system. After a long day for our crew, our customer was delighted to know that she could put her faith in the air her and her family were breathing in each day!
Mary S. in Whitehall, WI was suffering from water leaking into her basement. She was tired of dealing with a wet basement every time they had a heavy rain, so she started looking into long-term repair options. During her research, she discovered American Waterworks and was pleased to see that we have almost 3 decades of experience with waterproofing. She contacted us to receive a FREE estimate, so we sent a Design Specialist to her home to inspect her basement and develop a solution. We recommended that we install WaterGuard, a lateral line, and a TripleSafe sump pump. She was pleased with our design and the proposal, so she scheduled to have our waterproofing system installed.
Our production team started the installation by removing the concrete around the perimeter of the basement and laying the WaterGuard drainage system and a lateral liner. Then, they installed the sump pump in the corner of the basement and filed back the gaps of the drainage system and sump pump with rock. Lastly, they replaced the concrete, The WaterGuard now properly drains water to the sump pump, which then discharges it from the home. Mary was happy with the result and she is thrilled she can now enjoy a dry basement!
