A homeowner in Plymouth, MI had an unfinished basement with a concrete block foundation. Unfortunately, water was leaking through the foundation during heavy rains. This repeated water intrusion had caused damage to the walls, floors, and stairs. The homeowner wanted to ensure this issue did not continue to get worse. So, they reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair about receiving a free inspection.
Sidney, one of HomeSpec’s inspection managers, went out to the home and thoroughly evaluated the situation. He concluded the best way to waterproof the basement and discussed a repair plan with the homeowner. They agreed to have HomeSpec install a WaterGuard® interior drainage system, which would connect to an existing basin, as well as a CleanSpace® vapor barrier along the walls of the basement. A foreman named Brandon and a plumber named Rick led the crew in these repairs. While installing the WaterGuard® interior drainage system, they were able to blend the concrete with the deteriorating areas to create a more cohesive aesthetic. The homeowner was happy with the completed project!
This customer purchased a home from their grandfather a year ago with the plans of living there for a long time. In the excitement of renovating the home to include a man cave and a mudroom, the homeowner and their partner found black mold in the basement. In the year of living in their new home, their allergies had worsened and illness became apparent. The couple reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to not only get rid of the mold but also keep it away.
One of HomeSpec’s project managers, Elon, visited the home to provide a free inspection. He did a thorough assessment before returning to the homeowners to discuss a plan to repair their basement. Elon recommended first applying Mold-X2 and then moving on to the waterproofing efforts. This included installing an interior drainage system featuring WaterGuard® French drains, a new sump pump, a new sump pump discharge, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. The couple agreed to this repair plan and scheduled a HomeSpec crew to move forward. The crew was led by a foreman named Vernon and any plumbing concerns were addressed by Rick. The homeowners were happy with the final results, being mold-free and protected from future water intrusions.
In the first photo we can see a clearly failing sump pump and drainage system, as show from the visible floor cracks and stains across the floor from prolonged water damage. To rectify this problem, we utilized our French drain system alongside our triple safe sump pump solution. The French drain collects water along the perimeter of the wall and diverts it seamlessly into our revitalized drainage basin/ new sump pump. This particular sump pump solution includes 3 pumps total. A primary pump, a secondary in case the water inflow turns out to be overwhelming for the first, and a battery backup system to remain operational in times of power outages.
Homeowners in Monroe, MI were due for new vent space cover as well as a crawl space encapsulation. This led them to reach out to us for a quick assessment and installation of the CleanSpace Systems.
A couple in Belleville, MI could no longer use their basement as a storage area because water kept leaking in. These homeowners wanted to put their stress on the back burner and have the ability to sell the house in the future if needed. They called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a free estimate of the repair.
Kenny, a project manager for HomeSpec, went out to the home and took a look at the problem areas. He could see where the water was intruding throughout the basement and made a repair plan for the homeowners. Kenny suggested installing a WaterGuard® interior drainage system along with a new sump pump and discharge lines. This would allow the water leaking in to be redirected out and away from the home. The homeowners agreed to this plan and the repairs were later followed through by teams led by Jon and Travis. Once the concrete dried, the couple was happy to not worry about water in their home anymore.
