Tim realized that a massive crack in his block foundation had formed. While looking for a solution, Tim contacted Ayers. In return, an Ayers System Design Specialist came to Tims's home to assess the problem and determine the right solution.
The team at Ayers concluded that the GeoLock Wall Anchor System was the best solution for the job. The GeoLock Wall Anchor System utilizes an anchor plate buried in the ground on the other side of the problematic wall. A steel rod is drilled through the problematic wall into the anchor plate. Once connected to the anchor plate, a low-profile wall plate is bolted on the interior side of the wall and attached to the steel rod. The plate is tightened onto the steel rod, creating a pulling pressure on the wall. Once tightened, the wall will be permanently stabilized.
Tim was thrilled to find a solution that would fix the crack in the wall and ultimately straighten and correct it over time. Ayers was happy to be a part of Tims's permanent solution!
The back wall of this Laingsburg, MI garage was starting to crumble. Resting on a hill, this rental property had several horizontal and vertical cracks running through it caused by expanding soil putting pressure on the walls. When walls begin to push inward due to lateral pressure, they’re referred to as bowing.
The steel beams in the after photo are a part of the PowerBrace Wall Repair System. By attaching the beams to the ceiling with a bolt attachment and bracketing them to the floor, the beams are able to push back against the wall and straighten it to its original position. Once installed, the beams can be tightened at a later date to continue to improve wall conditions. Now, any pressure put on the walls will no longer threaten the foundation.
Catalina's floor was slanted for as long as she had lived in her home. She tried multiple "quick-fix" solutions and became frustrated with her lack of success. She decided to call Ayers for help, so we sent our experts to her house to recommend a solution. They decided to install SmartJacks, a system of floor jacks, zinc-plated, hot-dipped in galvanized steel, and anchored underneath the surface to provide permanent stability. Catalina loves her new floor!
The owner of his home contacted us because there was wall in the basement next to the frost line that was bowed. The home was built in the 1940's with blocks and there was noticeable stair step cracks. There was no water coming in yet but we wanted to take care of the problem before it gets worse.
Our experts decided the best solution to the problem was to install our Carbon Armor straps. Carbon fiber is a very high tensile strength material so it won't stretch. Since it can't stretch we actually glue the carbon fiber to the walls to keep them from bowing or bending any more than they already have. Carbon fiber straps cannot straighten a wall but they can keep it in it's current position.
Dave's foundation had large cracks, and some walls were noticeably bowing. Unsure of a solution, he contacted us at Ayers Basement Systems, and an inspection was conducted. The PowerBrace system was suggested and later implemented to stop the bowing and straighten the wall over time. This system attaches to the floor joist in the basement and the footing of the home down below. Over time, this system will correct Dave's foundation back to its original state!
