SprayFoam Insulation can help fill in all the nooks and crannies that old fiberglass insulation cannot do as well. SprayFoam creates an air tight seal that also keeps moisture out, insulating the basement and helping the homeowner save on energy bills. Our Passadumkeag, ME homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems wanting SprayFoam Insulation. System Design Specialist Alan N. reviewed the basement's needs, and SprayFoam Specialist Travis L. completed the installation.
This Surry, ME, homeowner recently moved into their new home and was quickly introduced to the problems with a wet basement. Water was coming into the basement through the floor and walls during rains. The homeowner wanted to take care of the problem, protect the health of their home, and regain the ability to use the space. The homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems, and System Design Specialist Mark Smith worked with them to design a waterproofing system that would take care of their issues, which included a new Slab with WaterGuard.
Debris was removed from the basement, and the ground was regraded to prep the area for waterproofing. Drainage Matting was installed to create an inorganic barrier that would channel water to the sump and protect the new slab. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter and connected to a new TripleSafe Sump Pump. WaterGuard captures and channels water to the TripleSafe, which features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup. The TripleSafe drains water out of the basement and through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that is protected against ice buildup with IceGuard. CleanSpace Wall System was installed to act as a vapor barrier where needed and channel any additional moisture from the walls to the WaterGuard.
New Slab and SprayFoam
Now that the area was fully prepped and waterproofed, the new slab was ready to be poured. The new slab turned the space into an area that the homeowner can use without the risk of their belongings or appliances being damaged. SprayFoam was installed on the rim joists and walls to insulate the area, keeping cold air out during the winter, making the space more comfortable, and saving the homeowner money on their energy bill. Finishing out the full waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SaniDry Sedona drains directly to the TripleSafe, which allows the basement to be kept at a safe humidity level all of the time without the homeowner having to empty a bucket of water to keep it running.
The homeowner has now gained control over their basement, and their home is healthier than it has been in years, and the space can be used as the homeowner would like.
Dampness, rot, and rodents are not how you want to describe the conditions of your crawl space, but for this Hancock, ME homeowner, this is the reality. After owning the home for 15 years and looking to eventually make this their forever home, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help.
System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and spent time in the crawl space to design a system that would meet the needs of the home and the expectations of the homeowner. This included removing the old insulation and debris so that the work could begin. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down to create an inorganic barrier that keeps the outside elements where they belong. Encapsulating the crawl space ensures that wind, moisture, and critters can’t cause damage to the home. Wanting to make sure the home stays energy efficient, Spray Foam was installed to seal and insulate the area. Finally, a CleanSpace Vent Cover was installed to fully encapsulate the crawl space.
The homeowner can rest easy knowing their home is protected from the elements and is more energy efficient, saving them money on their energy bill in the future.

Clogged and dirty gutters are not only unsightly but can lead to damage not only to your roof but your basement as well. Ineffective gutters allow water to run off of a home’s roof, eroding the soil below, which can eventually damage the foundation, giving water the chance to penetrate its way into the basement. This Dover, NH, homeowner’s gutters were old and ready to be replaced, so they called Gutter Shutter by TC Hafford Basement Systems for help.
System Design Specialist Josh Hamel met with the homeowner for a free estimate to show what the Gutter Shutter Seamless Gutter system would look like on their home. Gutter Shutter is formed and cut on the homeowner’s property, resulting in a seamless gutter that is sized perfectly for the home. Gutter Shutter can be cut as short or long as needed, and with the added protection of the Gutter Guard, any organic debris such as pine needles and leaves slides right off the gutter without the chance to cause clogs. A clog-free gutter ensures the system works year-round, and the homeowner’s foundation and basement are protected from water damage. The homeowner can also keep their ladder in the barn until it’s time to hang Christmas lights since they will no longer need to clean their gutters ever again.
