Bon and Joanne G. inherited this home in Marion, KS and wanted to fix the water issues in the basement to increase the value before selling the property. In addition, they wanted peace of mind for the next owner knowing they wouldn’t have the problems on their hands. Bob was familiar with Thrasher and our reputation of providing the best permanent solutions, so they gave us a call to come inspect the damage.
To begin the project, System Design Specialist Robert Griffin arrived in Marion to perform a thorough inspection on the wet basement to develop possible solutions. This is an older home, and it was determined that the point of entry for the water was near the brick fireplace and high moisture content in the south wall. The team began waterproofing the basement by installing our WaterGuard drainage system around the full perimeter. Next, CleanSpace waterproof barrier was applied to all the walls to prevent any moisture or water vapor from entering the space. Lastly, a TripleSafe sump pump system was installed to guarantee the basement stays dry year-round. Each of these products are effective on their own, but when they are combined it’s the ultimate waterproofing solution.
Bob and Joanne were thrilled with the outcome of the repair. They were impressed with the variety of solutions we provide, and our teams display of professionalism. Thrasher was able retore their peace of mind and give them the confidence they need to go forward in the process of selling the home.
This homeowner in Clifton, Kansas wanted to leave her home to her family in good condition, but a wet basement and failing basement walls were robbing of peace of mind. Her friends and family recommended she call Thrasher Foundation Repair since they all had good experiences working with us in the past, so we got the call. To make this basement clean, dry and safe again, we installed PowerBrace beams to stabilize the cracked, failing walls. We also installed a full perimeter basement waterproofing system, including our WaterGuard draining system, a new sump pump, and vapor barrier along all the walls to keep the area clean and dry.
This customer had mold growing in the basement of his business. The mold was growing in a dirt portion of his basement. In an effort to fix this issue, the customer had a dehumidifer installed by a local HVAC company last year. But the mold was still thriving. That's when he decided to contact Midwest - to get rid of the mold and ensure the air is clean in his store for his employees and customers.
Brock Scott, a System Design Specialist at Midwest, went to the property to inspect. He found that the dirt floor wasn't preventing ground water seepage increasing the humidity of the area. And that dirt was growing mold from such a high humidity.
To fix this, we encapsulated the basement, similar to how we would a crawl space, to protect the air above it. We also installed drain lines and sumps to drain any surface water under the liner. And lastly, the crew also used a Sedona to dry the air while they were working since the area had 87% humidity at one point.
The customer was happy that his store is now safe for his customers and employees.
Ross, at the local VFW Post 1174 in El Dorado, KS knew it was time to address the water in the basement of the building. This was limiting the storage and workspace that they needed to expand their services to local Veterans. Ross liked the reputation we had on the local radio station, KBFR, and knew Thrasher would get the job done right. El Dorado is located near a large lake, where bedrock is shallow allowing for overflow. This, and the soft soil around the footing of the structure, allows for water and pressure to build up in the fill soil. Over time, this pressure causes water to enter the building through the footing of the foundation.
For this project, WaterGuard was used at the footing of the foundation, this product is designed for water to flow through the open holes and naturally flow towards a Sump Pump. A TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed for this project, meaning there are three "fail-safes," for the pump. It will work for a large amount of water with the triple backup. CleanSpace was then installed for more protection, as deterioration was starting to happen with years of water buildup.
