One of the walls in Mike M.’s laundry room wasn’t doing so well. He was growing concerned about it because water was seeping through. Since he uses the space, he wanted to seek out a long-term fix that would allow the space to be usable. As a returning customer, he knew Thrasher could provide the solution he needed.
Service Technician Christian Hodson arrived at Mike’s home to see what we could do. Christian was able to identify that one of the walls was deflecting and was in stage 2. We installed PowerBraces, permanently stabilizing the wall. Also, to prevent water from entering again, the area was waterproofed with WaterGuard.
New homeowners Alex and Rachel H. were looking to fix their concrete patio and make sure the necessary repairs were done, to prevent any future problems for their home. Ready to start spending time on their back patio, they decided to give Thrasher a call to learn more about our concrete repair solutions.
System Design Specialist Shane McClintic went out to Alex and Rachel’s home. During his inspection, he found the patio was setting toward and against the back foundation wall. This was causing the concrete to be uneven and crack. Water was also draining towards the foundation. The concrete was also putting a lot of added weight against the foundation wall. From the weight of the soil and pressure from the concrete, the foundation wall was starting to bow in. Shane also identified the crack on the front of their driveway was from street creep.
The crew installed channel anchors to stabilize the foundation wall. Then the patio was lifted and sealed with PolyLevel and NexusPro Joint Sealant to close up the joints and cracks, also making the whole area level again. To help the front driveway, CompressionGuard was also installed to prevent street creep from expanding their driveway. Alex and Rachel were thrilled with the end result and extremely pleased with the knowledge of the crew.
Kelly R. is a proud homeowner in McPherson, KS, and wanted to begin planning for retirement by maximizing the value of his home. Before making any home improvements of his own, he wanted to guarantee the foundation of the home was permanently stable. All four of the basement walls were experiencing wall failure, but some were much more severe than others. Kelly wasn’t sure where to begin looking for a solution, but after a quick Google search, he was immediately impressed by our reviews and extensive reputation. Without hesitation, Kelly gave us a call to provide a permanent solution for his damaged foundation.
To begin the foundation repair project, System Design Specialist Sean Robinson arrived in McPherson, KS to perform a full inspection on the home’s foundation. Sean determined the walls were failing due to constant hydrostatic pressure over a long period of time. Kelly chose to have Thrasher install GeoLock wall anchors for the more severe areas and our PowerBrace wall support system on the rest. The GeoLock wall anchors attach to stable external soil to slowly return the wall to its vertical structure over time. The PowerBrace permanently stabilizes the wall in its current position to ensure the safety of the homeowner.
Kelly was overjoyed with the outcome of the project. Not only was his foundation secure and prepared to stand the test of time, but he was impressed throughout the entirety of his Thrasher experience. Our teams were able to restore Kelly’s peace of mind and give him the confidence he needs to progress into retirement.
Virginia initially reached out to us to pour new concrete for her back patio. After explaining that it's not a service we provide, it opened up a conversation. She asked, "What else do you do?" After listing our services, she figured we could still help her, just in another area. Her floors were sagging and dipping in the back of the house, near the kitchen. She was worried that if she were ever to rent it out or try to sell, that'd be an issue.
Sheldon Sharp, System Design Specialist at Thrasher, went out to her home to find the root of the problem. When he went into the crawl space, he found the cement blocks holding up her house had settled and were falling over. To prevent further damage to her home, we installed smart jacks and new i-beams to support the floors and lift them to give the floor a sturdy feel.
Virginia loved how the floors felt and was so happy we did a thorough inspection. We were happy to help her with something she didn't realize was an issue when she initially called!
Young couple, Sophia and Ivan, noticed their back door wasn't opening. And since Sophia was having a fence installed to allow their kids to safely play outside, she decided to dig a little deeper and find out why her back door wasn't working. That's when she called Thrasher. Once we got on site and took a look around, we found that their home had settled into the soil along the back foundation wall. We also noticed some wall failure on that same wall, which explains why the back door wouldn't open.
To fix the problem, we installed helical piers on the back foundation wall and lifted the foundation. We then installed GeoLock Anchors to support the wall from further wall failure. Reflecting back, Sophia and Ivan really appreciated how System Design Specialist Clint Gerber took the time to explain what was wrong and walk them through the process of how we were going to fix it. Now, they can spend their summers with their children, worry-free, knowing they can safely hang out in their backyard and easily use the backdoor again to come and go as they please.
