A homeowner in Millington, MI called on HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help with their sinking house. The issues had caused the ceiling drywall to crack. The owner suspected clay soil to be the cause and wanted help with leveling and re-adjusting the main beam under the house. They scheduled a free inspection to learn more.
Bill, one of HomeSpec’s project managers, arrived for the inspection and met with the homeowner. He then entered the crawl space and began his assessment. He noted cinderblock pillars and some existing supports were present; however, those methods alone were not enough to keep the house from settling. Bill recommended a repair plan consisting of SmartJack® support posts and supplemental beams along the main beam of the home, in addition to the existing support system. SmartJack® support posts have adjustment capabilities which makes them an excellent option for stabilizing a home. The owner decided to move forward with this proposal and coordinated a time for the installation. Tony led a crew throughout this project and saw it to completion.
In Livonia, MI, two realtors worked together to make the sale and purchase of a home as simple as possible. They were both working with family members and strived for the best outcome for both parties. The buyer and the seller wanted to ensure the house was structurally sound. Having peace of mind that the house was safe and healthy was a priority, so they reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair.
One of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, Mark, went out to the home and entered the crawl space. While he was there, Mark took measurements and notes so he could accurately diagnose the problem and create a repair plan. He shared that the best solution would be to install SmartJack® support posts where there were cinderblocks holding up beams in the crawl space. This would provide a more stable support that would not crack or crumble with time. They agreed with this plan and HomeSpec was scheduled to install the SmartJack® support posts. Jon, one of HomeSpec’s foremen, led an installation team. The final results accomplished the buyer and seller's goal of safer structural support.
This homeowner with a damp and musty crawl space had the CleanSpace Encapsulation System take care of their worries and restore their peace of mind.
This basement flooded after a bad storm because the homeowner's sump pump failed. Sadly, this is a common problem. Old sump pumps simply cannot handle high amounts of water.
After removing the damaged drywall, several cracked and damaged walls were discovered as well. The walls were deflecting inward and there was some shearing. This homeowner wanted to repair her basement and never have to worry about it again.
That's where HomeSpec comes in! Our team of experts curated a special solution to solve this problem. First, the basement needed to be waterproofed so we installed an interior drainage system with a sump pump. Our sumps can pump out thousands of gallons of water every hour - preventing this basement from flooding again. Next, the walls needed to be stabilized. We used the PowerBrace wall repair system and the carbon fiber system to prevent further damage and potentially straighten them.
