This basement flooded after a bad storm because the homeowner's sump pump failed. Sadly, this is a common problem. Old sump pumps simply cannot handle high amounts of water.
After removing the damaged drywall, several cracked and damaged walls were discovered as well. The walls were deflecting inward and there was some shearing. This homeowner wanted to repair her basement and never have to worry about it again.
That's where HomeSpec comes in! Our team of experts curated a special solution to solve this problem. First, the basement needed to be waterproofed so we installed an interior drainage system with a sump pump. Our sumps can pump out thousands of gallons of water every hour - preventing this basement from flooding again. Next, the walls needed to be stabilized. We used the PowerBrace wall repair system and the carbon fiber system to prevent further damage and potentially straighten them.
This homeowner contacted HomeSpec about water leaking into his basement through cracks in the wall.
Our crew repaired the cracks by injecting them with our long-lasting polyurethane sealant, preventing any future water issues.
Scott A. from Waterford, Michigan called HomeSpec to repair his sinking garage. The garage's foundation was settling into the soil which was causing separation from the home and severe cracking. Scott also wanted some concrete repaired while we were there.
Project Manager Keith Brown knew we could combat this issue by installing Helical Piers below the foundation. Foreman Ryan Loop and his crew got to work installing the piers to stabilize the foundation and stop the sinking. They were also able to lift the foundation back to its original position. Crack Tech Ryan Bonacorsi was then able to permanently seal the cracks in the walls.
At the same time, Concrete Specialists Devin Parker and Alex Lofgren were working on repairing Scott's concrete. They used the PolyLevel method, a cost-effective and less-abrasive method for leveling concrete. This works by injecting polyurethane rigid foam below the concrete slabs. As the foam expands, the concrete is lifted into place. It was a quick and easy installation!
This homeowner contacted HomeSpec because a block wall in his crawl space was deteriorating.
This can danger the structural integrity of the home, so our crew rebuilt the severely damaged wall, and then encapsulated the entire crawl space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier to waterproof it.
Everyone dreams of having a beautiful cottage on the lake to escape to every summer. These homeowners loved their vacation home in the quiet town of Otter Lake, Michigan. But on a recent visit, they noticed a musty smell coming from the basement - and they found water pooled on the floor.
They decided to call around get estimates for the repair, but ultimately chose HomeSpec to waterproof the basement. Our experts proposed a WaterGuard Below Floor Drain connected to a TripleSafe sump pump - a powerful system that can pump out over 2,000 gallons of water from the basement every hour.
Since the homeowners don't live in the cottage year-round, we also suggested installing a sump pump alarm. A battery-operated alarm alerts you when water is rising in the sump basin, but the pumps haven't turned on. This allows you to figure out what the problem is, potentially preventing the flooding that would have occurred had you not known the pump was not working properly.
The drainage system was installed around the perimeter of the basement and connected to the sump pump with the alarm. Since the homeowners spend months away from the cottage at a time, they are so relieved that they don't have to worry about their basement while they're away.
