Leaking Wooden Window Well Replaced in Marysville, MI

Egress windows come with a ton of benefits - from all the natural light they allow into basements, to the emergency exit they provide to keep your family safe. But without a proper window well and drainage, they are very susceptible to leaking. That's why this Marysville homeowner contacted HomeSpec.

JoAnn's window well was leaking for two main reasons: 1) water was pooling in the well because of inadequate drainage and 2) absence of a window well cover to keep out water.

To solve this problem, HomeSpec replaced the old wooden well with our Rockwell window well with proper drainage. We also installed a cover to keep out water and debris!

Homeowners from Troy, MI Discover Water Leakage in Crawlspace Due to a New Musty Smell

A Troy, MI homeowner had discovered a new musty smell in their home after 40 years of living in it. They came to the realization that the smell was originating from their crawl space. Once they had done a personal inspection on their home, they had found water leakage. Concerned this would cause damage to the wood and foundation, they decided to give HomeSpec a call.

HomeSpec’s senior project manager, Mark, inspected this residence and confirmed that water had accessed the crawl space. Mark had proposed to the homeowners that a TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System accompanied with SmartPipe™ perimeter drainage pipe Drainage system would be the best fit for their situation. The homeowners agreed, and the team got to work waterproofing the homeowner’s crawl space. At the end of the installations the team members were able to encapsulate the crawl space with CleanSpace® vapor barrier to combat the musty smells from returning. The homeowners were happy knowing their crawl space was suited to keep water from damaging their home.

Old Palmyra, MI Crawl Space Door Replaced

Many people neglect their crawl spaces, especially the crawl space door. But it's much more important than you think, especially if your crawl space is already encapsulated - it's supposed to prevent water, humidity, and even critters from infiltrating. The door should fit perfectly, and provide an airtight seal.

The door on this Palmyra crawl space was wooden and damaged by water. Bricks were placed in front just to hold the door shut. After encapsulating, HomeSpec installed our EverLast™ Crawl Space Door to waterproof the entrance. It's made of high-quality, inorganic material so it won't attract mold or rot over time.

Saline, MI Crawl Space Encapsulation Protects Home from Mold

A homeowner in Saline, MI reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a free consultation. They were interested in encapsulating their crawl spaces, of which there were two. Bill was the project manager helping this homeowner. He spoke with them about their concerns before entering the crawl spaces. While inspecting, Bill took great care in recording details not only for his analysis but so he could inform the homeowner. They talked about what Bill witnessed and then about his recommendations. Together, they decided to encapsulate the crawl space using a CleanSpace® vapor barrier and install a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. The homeowner then planned a time for the repairs to be completed. The crew was led by a foreman named Jim, and he and his team worked diligently to finish the project. The homeowner was happy with their crawl space repair!
