Earthquakes can damage your home slowly over time, or in one fell swoop. With the quick installation of brackets such as these, your home can better be protected from such damage.
This is from a push pier installation we did in San Jose. The homeowner wanted to stabilize his foundation to prevent it from sinking any further. This included the foundation of their chimney. Our crew removed a section of the concrete slab near the chimney in order for them to install push piers beneath the foundation. After the piers were installed, the crew backfilled the area with brand new concrete.
This homeowner decided to do an Earthquake Retrofit of their home. Within the crawlspace, we installed wooden sheathing over the existing cripple wall, we installed Simpson Strong-Tie URFP10s and L70s to connect the floor framing to the cripple wall and the cripple wall/mudsill to the foundation. Now with a retrofitted crawlspace, the home has increased it's value and it's resistance to Earthquakes.
A few images of a Push Pier Installation project to repair a sinking foundation. The piers are installed in such a way that they will only be seen if you dig them up again.
