Want to know why concrete sinks in St. Albert? Check out the common causes and how we can fix them.

Why Does Concrete Sink in St. Albert?

There are a few primary causes of sunken or cracked slabs:

  • Soil movement from moisture or frost
  • Poor backfill or compaction during installation
  • Freeze-thaw cycles that cause the ground to shift
  • Voids beneath the slab, leading to cracking and settling

Without intervention, these issues will only worsen over time, but they’re also preventable with the right repair approach.

Why Choose Concrete Leveling?

Professional concrete leveling helps eliminate tripping hazards, boosts curb appeal, and saves money over replacement. Key benefits include:

  • Improved safety
  • Reduced liability for property owners
  • Less disruption compared to replacement
  • Long-lasting results with minimal downtime

  • Project Location St. Albert, AB T8N 3R8
Comment Just replaced my big garage doors and now need to replace the side door beside them. However the concrete has sunk under the current side door, so I want to fix that before ordering a new one.
  • Project Location St. Albert, AB T8N 4T2
Comment Front walkway and brick archways at the corner of my garage appear to be shifting away from the house. It appears that the previous owner attempted to fill the gaps along the garage pad and base of the front steps with some sort of urethane sealant. I'm looking for a professional opinion, on whether this condition can be rectified simply by jacking the existing concrete, or whether outright replacement is required.
  • Project Location St. Albert, AB T8N 6Y5
Comment Pad outside garage man door (approx 4x10 ft) is sinking and moving away from foundation. About 2-3 inch gap and can see the rebar that sticks out of the foundation is no longer joined to the pad. Driveway along garage door is about an inch down but not sure that is worth looking at yet.
  • Project Location St. Albert, AB T8N 7G9
Comment Uneven concrete driveway at the slab edge.
  • Project Location St. Albert, AB t8n 1t8
Comment A large square portion of my driveway has been shifting over the years and now the gate won't close to the back yard, as the gate-latch pole is leaning sideways, there is a large crack where wasps fly in and out of the concrete and a portion of the slab is sticking up at the opposite corner, high enough to trip you when walking over it. I won't park on it anymore and it creaks like hardwood when being walked on.
