Over time, sections of the pool deck experienced differential settlement due to underlying soil voids, resulting in uneven surfaces and hazardous trip points that rendered the area nearly unusable. To restore structural integrity and safety, it was necessary to fill these voids and reestablish uniform support beneath the concrete slabs, thereby stabilizing the pool deck and preventing further displacement.
The previously installed sump pump system failed to adequately capture and discharge incoming water, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and snowmelt. This deficiency led to repeated basement leaks and flooding, resulting in damage to stored items such as furniture and tools. The lack of reliable water management underscored the need for a more robust and high-capacity sump pump solution to protect the space from future water intrusion.
The existing sump pump system was overwhelmed by the volume of groundwater surrounding the basement, leading to hydrostatic pressure that forced water infiltration through cold joints in the foundation.
The original footings beneath the home began to settle over time, compromising the structural stability of the foundation. As a result, the wooden support posts were no longer capable of adequately bearing the load of the structure above, increasing the risk of floor deflection and long-term damage.
During periods of heavy rainfall and snowmelt, water infiltrated the basement through cracks in the fieldstone foundation walls, compromising the space and making it unsuitable for storing personal belongings. Seeking to reclaim and utilize the basement safely, the homeowner pursued a comprehensive waterproofing solution designed to address moisture management.
